Accused Bowling Green shoplifter allegedly strikes store employee with vehicle
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A Bowling Green man accused of robbing a Dollar General store is behind bars.
The crime occurred late Thursday afternoon at the Dollar General on East 6th Street.
A store employee told police that Stephen Sims, 60, left the store with stolen merchandise.
According to an arrest citation, Sims then struck the employee with his vehicle when she tried to stop him from leaving.
The employee was treated at the scene for pain to her stomach and leg.
Police later caught up with Sims. Officers said he admitted to shoplifting.
Sims is charged with first-degree robbery.
Sims was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
