City of BG celebrates naturalized United States citizens

Sloan Convention Center

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Thursday, June 16th the City of Bowling Green celebrated 161 of our country’s newest American citizens.

The city hosted the annual reception at the Sloan Convention Center to recognize people who became naturalized United States citizens since 2019.

This is the sixth year for the event, and smiles were found everywhere you looked.

The ceremony was especially important, because the pandemic delayed naturalizations over the last couple of years.

9-year-old Farah Alsalheli says she moved here from Syria.

I love Kentucky. It’s a really, really, really really fun state,” Alsalheli exclaimed.

Proud husband and father Ryan Dearbone came to support his wife, Bonita’s naturalization.

“It’s a great event, and I’m proud to be a part of it,” Dearbone said.

Congratulations to all of our newest citizens!
