Hispanic resource fair reaches out to the Latino community
BOWLING GREEN Ky.- With a growing Latino student population at South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College in Bowling Green, the school is stepping up to show Hispanic students where to go to find vital information.
The Hispanic resource fair was a free event Wednesday where agencies such as Kentucky Legal Aid, Farmers National Bank and the Barren River District Health Department came out to let people know what resources the community offers.
Organizers said one of the barriers faced by the Latino community is not knowing who to go to for help.
Latino outreach specialist Addi Hernandez said the resource fair is a great way to make connections.
“I hope that people come and are able to learn about programs for their children, they’re able to learn about programs to help them finance their homes, and make some of their goals possible or at least make connections with people that will help make those goals possible,” Hernandez said.
Some other agencies at the event included the Warren County Public Library, the Western Kentucky University minority teacher recruitment center and Passport Health.
