Kids learn engineering by playing with Legos

GLASGOW, Ky.-At a library in Glasgow kids are learning to create robots out of Legos.

Lego Robotics is a program at the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library.

It teaches design, building and computer programming in a fun and easy way.

Using a guide from Lego Mindstorms, kids are able to design their own robots using Legos.  On Monday, kids built an alligator then programmed it to chomp down on a Lego man.

Barbara Brodt is leading the project.

“I started it because Legos are fun and Lego robotics are just cool. It teaches the kids not only engineering and technology, but usually they work in groups so it teaches them how to work with others as well,” said Brodt.

The group meets at Weldon Memorial on the second Monday every month at 11 am and 4 pm.
