Fort Knox soldier honored with highest peace-time medal

There is one Fort Knox soldier being called a hero, who will be honored with the highest peace-time medal for his heroism.

Sergeant First Class Mario King rescued a man along a highway in Rockcastle County last May, after the man’s vehicle had burst into flames. Thanks to King and two others, the man in the engulfed tractor-trailer was saved, suffering only broken ribs and smoke inhalation. The accident victim will speak at the ceremony for King.

Which will take place on September 7th.
