RailPark’s Haunted Lantern Tours needs volunteers

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –The Historic RailPark & Train Museum will hold an open call audition for adults and children to produce the 6th Annual Haunted Lantern Tours.

The RailPark needs around 30 guys and girls of all ages to come to help out with the production throughout the season.

People can sign up for first-come-first-served auditions from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Those interested in auditioning can expect a cold read provided during the audition, and those volunteering for a speaking part need to bring a picture to the audition.

The RailPark also needs folks to assist the cast with costumes, decorations, props, makeup, logistics and concessions.

The theme this year is fairy tales, with a dark twist. RailPark executive director Jamie Johnson said people will walk through the train cars where they can meet evil queens, wolves, witches and so many more creatures that go bump in the night.

“Every year with Haunted Lantern Tour we change the theme. This year is Fairy Tale Horrors, so it will have some of the fairy tales from Grimm’s Fairy Tales and Hans Christian Andersen. So, these will be the ones that are a little bit darker, a little bit more scoot spooky. Some of these will actually tell you the story that led to the fairytales that you’re familiar with. We were not able to do this during the pandemic last year, so that makes this year even more important for us, because we have a whole year of pent-up excitement that we are ready to just explode with- with fun, with scary things that we have for those weeks that the tours open,” said Johnson.

The actual Haunted Lantern Tour begins Oct. 21 and continues through those last two weeks of October. For people not looking to audition, but who want to check out the spooky fairy tales, the RailPark will announce ticket pricing in October.
