Man found dead near corner of Collegeview and Glen Lilly
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man was shot and killed and his body was found on the street on Collegeview Drive near a discount store on Glen Lilly Road Thursday night.
When officers arrived they located Robert Cherry (43) in the roadway deceased from a gunshot wound.
Bowling Green police saturated the area after the shooting.
“I seen the cars,” witness Julian Turner said. “I was the first one up here and he was laying in the road dead.”
Turner, who lives just a few doors down from the scene, said he heard what sounded like gun shots. Then he saw a black car speed away.
A grey car followed, had what appeared to be a flat tire and that car pulled into the parking lot of the discount store, Turner said.
According to police, a witness identified Michael Burgett (44) as the shooter.
Officers located Burgett a short time later in the 1300 block of South Lee Drive and took him into custody.
Burgett is charged with Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence and is lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
The investigation continues.
