Metcalfe County Public Library to give out STEAM kits

EDMONTON, Ky.- Kids in Metcalfe County will soon have a new resource available to them, and it’s thanks to the Kentucky Science Center in Louisville.

Starting May 14, kids can pick up their free Kentucky Science Center do science at home STEAM kits from the Metcalfe County Public Library. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math. To get one, parents can register by calling the library at 270-432-4981.

The kits are provided by a $150,000 Institute of Museum and Library Service grant from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Each kit contains items for projects that families can complete together.

Staff at the library say they were pleasantly surprised that the Kentucky science center in Louisville noticed them.

“We’re hoping they can take a step back from everything that’s been virtual this year. It would be something fun that the kiddos can do with the grownups in their lives to expand on those science, technology, engineering, arts, and math elements as well,” said Metcalfe County Public Librarian Ashley Holley.

Kits will be available in June, July and August as well.
