Bowling Green Hot Rods show appreciation for healthcare workers with gold stars

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As life begins to return to some sense of normalcy, we can’t forget to thank local healthcare heroes for making it possible. A local sports team is giving the public the chance to do just that.

Through the Bowling Green Hot Rods, anyone can nominate a local healthcare hero. Their name will be put on a gold star, which will then be presented at the ballpark during Hospital Appreciation Week, May 11 through the 16.

The healthcare hero nominations can be from any medical field. As the Hot Rods prepare for their season, general manager and chief operating officer Eric Leach said none of this would be possible if it weren’t for those working on the front lines.

“Our opening week this year happens to coincide with Hospital Appreciation Week. Let’s be honest, the reason we’re able to open our gates this year is because of all the work the front-line heroes did to help reduce Covid. Without their hard work, dedication, and passion, we wouldn’t be able to open,” Leach said.

The deadline to submit is Friday, but submissions will still be taken if they trickle in through the week after. These nominations are free of charge.
