Aviation Heritage park prepares for Open Cockpit Day, now on Sunday
BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Fans of the Aviation Heritage Park are in for a great experience this weekend, as the park will once again hold the annual Open Cockpit day.
The event will be held at the park Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event was originally planned for Saturday but was changed due to expected rainy conditions.
All of the aircraft will have their cockpits open, along with docents at each one to tell their stories and show them around the interior of the aircraft. Everyone is welcome, and there is no registration needed. Attendees will also have the chance to sit in a real aircraft.
Bob Pitchford with the Aviation Heritage Park said this is a way to show the community appreciation for all they do to support the park.
“This is a give back. We do this to thank the community of Bowling Green, Warren County, and all of our surrounding areas who have been so incredibly supportive of AHP. We want to show them what their support does for the park,” Pitchford said.
At the same time, the Summer Camp Expo will take place, where attendees of Open Cockpit Day can learn all about upcoming summer camp opportunities.
