Housing Authority of Bowling Green’s mobile grocery bus receives grant money

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Housing Authority of Bowling Green has received a grant for its mobile grocery bus.

The Conservation Fund and railroad transportation company, CSX, are providing funding to 12 local organizations in nine states to improve healthy food distribution in underserved communities.

The grants range from $5,000 to $10,000.

WROTE Inc., a non-profit of the Housing Authority of Bowling Green will use the money for its new, mobile grocery bus, which provides individuals and families with access to affordable groceries, including fresh produce, helping to alleviate one of the main barriers that low income people face.

This year’s funding will allow the 12 recipient organizations to collectively serve an additional 43,400 families with more than 605,000 meals.
