Area school districts receive funding from a generous Barren County family
BARREN COUNTY Ky.-Some local school districts recently received some much-appreciated financial help.
A solid $100,000 of financial help was provided to be exact. Three school districts, one of them being the Caverna Independent schools received the funding from the Gaunce family. The late Wayne and Pat Gaunce are known in the Barren County area for their acts of generosity.
Their sons and daughters Patrick, Paige and Kevin Gaunce presented the checks in Wayne and Pat’s honor. Schools like the Caverna schools are planning on using the money to establish the Wayne and Pat Gaunce scholarship fund.
Caverna Independent Schools superintendent Cornelius Faulkner said this gift will go a long way.
“Gifts like this make a huge difference, especially for students and families who can’t or don’t have the resource to move on and further their education whether it’s going in to traditional college, or post-secondary education,” Faulkner said.
The other two districts to receive $100,000 are the Glasgow Independent Schools and the Barren County schools.
