WCPS offers Helping Hearts, an online mental health tool

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – One of the greatest concerns in schools is a student’s mental health.

Whether that be impacts from bullying or depression from low grades.

However, Warren County Public Schools has a program to help.

The Helping Hearts program is an online program that was created through google documents.

It helps students who have any type of emotional or mental health needs make a confidential report.

The report goes directly to the guidance counselor and Director of Student Services Todd Hazel.

The program, since its birth in 2014, has received 1,000 reports which Helping Hearts has helped staff address.

The site offers anxiety and depression tools, housing and social services.

There is also a tab for reporting bullying, which helps students bring awareness to it safely.

Hazel tells us that helping hearts increases communication from students and shows families their children are supported.

This is a districtwide program that is accessible 24-7 and is free.

The program, created by the WCPS tech department, saves the school $35,000 in online programs by using Google Drive.
