Groundbreaking held for the new Rich Pond Elementary School

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A project in the works for a while, a groundbreaking was held for a new upcoming elementary school Tuesday night.

Members of the Warren County School board were joined by others to officially break ground on the new Rich Pond Elementary School right behind the existing school building. The new building will feature larger classrooms and an included storm shelter.

The original Rich Pond Elementary School building holds a lot of history in the school district. One former student Mitchell Berman was in attendance.

Berman became ill and nearly passed away, but with the support of the community, a playground called the Mitchell Berman Park was built with the money raised for him.

Because of this, Berman is thrilled that the Rich Pond legacy will continue.

“Walking into the school today, I look at it and I’m like ‘this is amazing.’ It looks completely different, it’s so clean. I can only imagine what this new school will look like. It’s going to be just spectacular,” Berman said.

The new Rich Pond is expected to be open for students by August 2022.
