Metcalfe County School district offers free meals while students learn from home

EDMONTON, Ky.- The Metcalfe County School district prepared a way for families to get meals following the district moving to all at-home learning.
Families could pick up a free weeks’ worth of meals Monday from a tent set up in front of the district’s main office.
All children under 18 are eligible for the food pickup. To make sure more families get the food they need, the district offered two pickup times. One took place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the other from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Superintendent Josh Hurt said this is a result of the school district coming together to serve the families during this tough time.
“It makes us feel great. We are here to serve, and I know that’s how our food service staff feels. Back in March when all this happened, our food service team couldn’t have done a better job, and we continue to make sure our students and families get fed,” Hurt said.
As of now, middle school and high school athletics will continue. Coaches will be in contact with their teams for any further instructions.
