Nearly 30 percent of Barren County jail inmates test COVID positive

GLASGOW, Ky. – Sixty-three inmate’s, six employees and four contract workers at the Barren County Detention Center tested positive for COVID-19, according to a release from Jailer Aaron Bennett.
The tests were conducted Friday after two contract workers and one deputy jailer tested positive for the virus Tuesday.
Out of 216 inmates 63 tested positive, six employees out of 40 and four contract workers out of seven tested positive.
The Barren County Detention Center is working with the local health department, Department of Public Health, Department of Corrections, Office of the Barren County Judge Executive and Barren County Emergency Management to address this issue.
“The health and wellness of our Barren County Detention Center residents and staff, and our community at large, are our chief concerns,” the release reads.
