Four Bowling Green schools to receive fresh fruit and vegetable grant

BOWLING GREEN Ky.-Several local elementary schools are receiving grant money to go towards providing healthy eating options.

The Bowling Green Independent School District announced four elementary schools in the district are recipients of the fresh fruit and vegetable grant funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The schools are Dishman McGinnis, T.C. Cherry, Parker-Bennett-Curry and W.R. McNeill.  Between all these schools, the grant totals a little over $80,000.

The goal of this grant is to provide students with the chance to enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables for free, as well as to create healthy eating habits.

The Bowling Green Independent School District partners with local farms like Jackson’s Orchard and Need More Acres farm to provide students with the produce.
