Shake Rag Barbershop offers up fresh cuts and comfort food

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – In between haircuts and shaves, the folks at Shake Rag Barbershop offered food to their customers who rang in the New Year with full bellies and new dos.
Suevetta Nichols took the time to show her appreciation to the barbershop and its customers by serving food old-fashioned, comfort food like cornbread, ham and macaroni and cheese.
“It’s a pleasure, I love to cook, and I love to see a smile on people’s faces knowing that they appreciate us, like we appreciate them,” Nichols said.
The barbershop is a vital link from the city’s past to its present and future.
The Shake Rag District is Bowling Green’s first National Register District and is important for its significance to African American history here.
