BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Many are in shock after two bodies were found dead inside a Bowling Green apartment this morning.
Bowling Green Police Officers responded to a call this morning around 8:45am concerning ‘unknown trouble’.
When officers arrived to the apartment building in the 2100 block of Rock Creek Road in Bowling Green, they made a gruesome discovery, two women dead inside, 62-year-old Deloris Hampton Stacker and 53-year-old Karen L. Burks.
After receiving the proper search warrant, officers began processing the scene and collecting evidence.
“Right now we are just trying to determine what happened has happened here at that point in time with hopefully the evidence we find inside and plus the information that we gather. Right now, detectives are going door to door talking to family members and anyone here who may know something,” said Bowling Green Police Department’s Public Information Officer, Ronnie Ward
Friends and family arrived at the scene visibly shaken.
Officials tell WNKY this is being investigated as a double homicide. Neighbors are stunned this happened on what she calls a normally a quiet street.
“Usually it is pretty quiet around here. You might see some kids walking down the street and maybe people walking to the store, but you don’t see a lot of activity. Especially, things like this since I have lived here anyways,” said concerned neighbor, Carrie Ash
There are still a lot of questions left to be answered including the manner of death. Officials say it is an on-going investigation.
“There is some indication to this that it would be an isolated incident. I certainly don’t want to cause any public harm, but I certainly would say in a matter of public safety that if you see something out of the ordinary, if you know something that has happened here, or if you have any information at all that you certainly need to contact the police,” added Officer Ward
Police say Burks is believed to have lived inside the apartment. We will continue to update this post as this story develops and more details become available.
