Bowling Green residents graduate from Over 50 Citizen’s Academy

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Around two dozen adults from Bowling Green joined one another Wednesday afternoon to celebrate the completion of the 8th annual Over 50 Citizen’s Academy.

The city residents were treated to lunch at the WKU Center for Research and Development and given certificates from Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson and City Commissioner Brian “Slim” Nash.

For four days, the adults, all over the age of 50, learned about how city government works.

They traveled to different departments, met with both elected and non elected leaders and learned about residing in a livable, age-friendly community.

City officials said Wednesday they are looking at possibly hosting the academy more than once a year.
