NAACP encourages all at Freedom Gala to vote

On Saturday, the Bowling Green-Warren County NAACP held its Freedom Fund Gala, which not only recognized individuals making a difference in our community, but also encouraged those who attended to vote, the theme of the night being, "Don’t Hate, Vote."

The Freedom Fund Gala was held on WKU’s campus at the Augenstein Alumni Center.

WNKY’s Matthew White emceed the gala for the first time, which he called an "honor" and a "privilege."

Several community leaders attended, such as Mayor Bruce Wilkerson, Judge Michael Muchanon, WKU President Timothy Caboni and more.

The keynote speaker was Reverend John Lee Jr., the senior pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He shared how we need to continue to "cry" out for change with our votes until someone hears us.

Several awards were given to individuals who serve the community tirelessly, and scholarships were also given to hard-working students.

There was an auction, and 100% of the proceeds go towards student scholarships.
