Retired Sergeant still serves by giving back to youth

Sergeant Chip Whittamore is a retired veteran.

He served in the United States Army for six years and was in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

For 15 years, he has taught kids the importance of veteran’s sacrifice through his kid boot camp.

He brought the camp to Holy Trinity Lutheran school when his mother started working there.

His boot camp includes bear crawl, walking on a balance beam, hopping through a hula-hoop minefield and more.

For Sergeant Whittamore, the camp is more than just giving kids something fun to do.

He says the message is simple. That veteran soldiers paid the price for our freedom, including theirs.

Sergeant Whittamore’s son and daughter also attend Holy Trinity Lutheran school.

As a father, he says he’s proud to see his two kids teaching their peers how to do basic training.

Since he misses the service so much, this gives Sergeant Whittamore a small taste of it.

However, it’s giving back to the youth in our community that he values the most.

Thank you Sergeant Whittamore for your service, and to all veterans who have fought for us to live.
