Important election dates you need to know before you head to the ballots
WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Election day is coming up, and across the commonwealth, Kentuckians will head to the ballot box to let their voices be heard.
While not everyone’s ballots will look the same, there are multiple dates for everyone to get out and vote. The Kentucky Secretary of State and county clerks are urging residents to get out and vote.
While this year’s election may not have multiple higher-level offices up for election, there are many local elections that have a daily impact on everyday life. So what are some of those dates that you need to keep in mind?
“October the 21st through the 23rd is in-office excused voting. The 26th through the 28th is in office excused voting as well. The 29th through the 31st is early voting. And that’s anyone can get out at any of our five locations. That’s a Thursday, Friday, Saturday. So you can go to any of the locations. And then, of course, Election Day is at any of our 14 locations,” said Warren County Clerk Lynette Yates.
Yates also encourages voters to research the candidates and proposed constitutional amendment before heading to the polls.
Yates says poll workers cannot explain what the amendment means, or how voters should vote.
Changes have also been made to voting ID due to a presidential executive order.
Non-photo IDs such as credit cards and debit cards will no longer be accepted as a proper form of identification at the polls.
Individuals presenting driver’s licenses, college IDs, and others that include a photo will still be allowed to vote.
