BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Wednesday afternoon, competition wrapped up for the boys in the 2026 Leachman Buick-GMC KHSAA State Golf Championships at the Bowling Green Country Club.
For the team competition, Bowling Green maintained its fourth place position from day one and finished with a final of +39.
Leading the way for the Purples was Rowdy Harris.
The freshman shot 149 over the course of the two-day tournament for a top-20 individual finish, while Johnny Brown and Jorge Suarez Gonzalez placed in the top 50.
Even though Wednesday wasn’t the team’s best day on the course, the Purples were proud of the fight they showed.
And because they are a young team, that gives them even more motivation to come back next year and score even better.
“ I like that it gives us a good look at what it’s going to be like next year,” Brown said. “I think next year we’ll be ready to go and hopefully win this thing.”
“I think it gives us a huge motivation.” Harris said. “All the top five are returning, and I think that will be awesome. It will allow us really to  keep moving forward and grinding because hopefully I still have more growing to do. I really hope so, then I can hit it farther. But overall, I think it was a great experience, and it was great for the team.”
Glasgow’s Griffin Jackson represented the Scotties on the individual side of competition this week and earned one of the top finishes in Glasgow golf history.
Jackson placed fifth with a -2 finish. He shot a 71 on both days of the tournament, with seven birdies through 36 holes.
As a sophomore, this was Jackson’s first state tournament experience and he spoke Wednesday on how he stayed locked in and how much confidence this gives him moving forward.
“Just knowing that I still have to get first team, so there’s still points out there. I just knew that I couldn’t let my focus down and hit a wayward shot and cost me the tournament,” Jackson said. “I just know what I can do now. I can come out here and give it a good run next year after doing this this year.”
