Governor recognizes officers who assisted in catching suspect in Trooper Phillips’ death

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear is recognizing all law enforcement officers that assisted to apprehend the suspect in Kentucky State Police Trooper Hayden Phillips’ death.

On Wednesday, during a Team Kentucky update, Beshear named all officers who assisted in this apprehension as this week’s Team Kentucky All-Stars.

On Sept. 28, Phillips died in the line of duty during a traffic stop in Warren County. Authorities reported the suspect fled the scene.

According to the governor’s office, immediately after this occurred, the Kentucky State Police, Louisville Metro Police Department, Bowling Green Police Department, agencies in Elizabethtown and agencies along Interstate 65 took action and began looking for the suspect.

By that evening, the Louisville Metro Police Department apprehended the suspect, Emonnie Branch, with the Kentucky State Police making the arrest.
