Tennessee man accused of murder in death of pregnant woman in Kentucky

Murder Investigation

PINEVILLE, Ky. – A Tennessee man is charged with the murder of a pregnant woman in Kentucky, authorities say.

According a media release, U.S. Marshals from Middle Tennessee (M/TN) and Eastern Kentucky (E/KY), along with the Clarksville Police Department and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) K-9 Unit arrested a Kentucky fugitive in Clarksville, Tennessee on Wednesday.

Authorities say the Pineville Police Department responded to the 300 block of George Martin Drive on Sept. 23. Officers located a body determined to be a victim of a homicide by the Bell County Coroner’s Office.

On Sept. 24, law enforcement determined that the victim was pregnant at the time of death and the fetus has been removed. Investigators say they located what they believe to be fetal remains at the scene.

During the investigation, investigators identified DeMarcus Kenneth Johnson-Wright as a suspect. Authorities say Johnson-Wright has an “extensive violent criminal history” and outstanding warrants out of Tennessee.

The Bell County District Court issued warrants for Johnson-Wright on first-degree robbery and kidnapping-adult charges on Sept. 25.

On Sept. 30, additional warrants were issued for murder – domestic violence and tampering with physical evidence.

The U.S. Marshals were requested to assist in the investigation and determined that Johnson-Wright was living at home in the 200 block of Timber Court Drive in Clarksville.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, authorities arrested Johnson-Wright at the home. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the home and seized materials related to the investigation.

Johnson-Wright was lodged at the Montgomery County, Tennessee Jail, where he will await extradition back to Kentucky, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
