Med Center Health looking to make health care accessible in rural Kentucky
LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – Access to healthcare can sometimes be a challenge, especially in rural parts of Kentucky.
On Thursday, Med Center Health hosted a community health fair at the Logan County Extension Office in Russellville, connecting residents with services available in their area.
More than 40 vendors provided information on children’s health, mental health, geriatric care and other resources residents may not have known were available.
One local nurse says it’s all part of an effort to better connect with the community, and help more people live healthier lives.
“We’re really trying to promote different educational opportunities. We have someone teaching hands only CPR fall prevention. We have our rehab department here giving education. Our wound care department is here given education. We’re just really trying to get the community involved and educated about their health,” said Brooke Burchett, a clinical resource nurse.
The Air Evac team even made an appearance, flying in and allowing children to get to know more about their job and the helicopter. To learn more about the resources available to you, you can click here for more.
