WKU Player of the Week: football quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After WKU football earned its first win of 2026, it also earned its first WKU Athletics Player of the Week honor of the season.

Quarterback Rodney Tisdale Jr. takes the award this week after leading the Tops to a 52-7 win over the Mercyhurst Lakers.

The redshirt sophomore passed for 309 yards and four touchdowns on 19-23 passing, with an addition of 18 yards on the ground.

Tisdale split time at QB with redshirt junior Brock Glenn but the pair was fully in unison as the offense moved the football for 596 total yards, the highest its seen this year.

The 52 points are also a high for the team in 2026.

Tisdale’s completion percentage (82.6%) in the matchup marked the highest of any start in his career so far.

It was also just the third game of his career with 300+ passing yards and the second to connect for four touchdown passes.

Tisdale was not active in Week Three at Indiana, but he talked about his strong return to the field following the win on Saturday.

“ I felt real comfortable, just getting back to my roots, just being the leader I know I can be,” Tisdale said. “You know, once I got back out there, I know the guys was gonna fall under me, and Brock (Glenn), Brock did a good job too out there. It was pretty good team camaraderie football out there.”

Tisdale and the Hilltoppers are back in action Thursday night, beginning play in Conference USA at New Mexico State University.

Kickoff in Las Cruces, NM is set for 7 p.m. CT at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
