Local law enforcement agencies honor Trooper Hayden Phillips

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Following the death of Trooper Hayden Phillips of Kentucky State Police Post Three on Monday, local law enforcement agencies are remembering and honoring his service.

Phillips died as a result of a reported shooting while he was patrolling Interstate 65 in Warren County on Sept. 28.

Now, local first responders are recognizing Phillips’ sacrifice.

The Glasgow Police Department, an agency where Phillips formerly served, issued the following statement:

“In Memory of Trooper Hayden Phillips, Unit 369,”

“There are moments when words simply are not enough.

“Trooper Hayden Phillips began his law enforcement career right here at the Glasgow Police Department in 2019. He was our Unit 37. He served our community. He worked beside us. He was our friend.

“Hayden went on to serve the Commonwealth as a Kentucky State Police Trooper assigned to Post 3 in Bowling Green. No matter where his career took him, we remained proud to call him one of our own. This loss is especially personal to the men and women of our department.

“Today, our hearts are broken.

“We grieve alongside Hayden’s family, his loved ones, his brothers and sisters at the Kentucky State Police, and every person whose life was touched by his service and friendship.

“The loss of a law enforcement officer is felt far beyond the agency whose uniform they wear. It is felt by every officer who understands the risks of answering the next call, by every family who watches someone they love leave for another shift, and by the communities they have sworn to protect.

“In the difficult days ahead, we will stand beside his family and our brothers and sisters at the Kentucky State Police. We will honor Hayden not only for the sacrifice he made, but for the life he lived, the friendships he made, and the service he gave.

“The badge may change.

“The uniform may change.

“Family does not.

“Rest easy, Hayden. We’ll take it from here.”

This week, the Bowling Green Police Department says members of its team will wear black mourning bands over their badges to show solidarity with the Kentucky State Police.

“Our thoughts, prayers and support remain with Trooper Phillips’ family, friends, his fellow troopers at KSP Post Three, and the entire Kentucky State Police family,” the agency stated on Tuesday.

In addition, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office stated the following:

“Today, the WCSO mourns along with the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the loss of Kentucky State Trooper Hayden Phillips.
I am thankful for men and women that have taken the oath to protect our community against the pure evil that exists.
We will be praying for him and his loved ones during this difficult time.”

The Allen County-Scottsville Crime Task Force also extended its condolences to family, friends and fellow troopers of Trooper Hayden Phillips:

“His loss is felt throughout the entire law enforcement community. We are forever grateful for his service to Kentucky and will never forget the sacrifice he made in the line of duty. May God bring strength and comfort to his family and his KSP family in the difficult days ahead.”
