Franklin man charged with child sexual exploitation after investigation in Logan County
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Franklin man was arrested after he was tracked down by a social media group tracking child predators Saturday evening.
According to a uniform citation, the Russellville Police Department responded to 250 Highland Lick Road after Alex Rosen of the group Predator Poachers contacted them regarding illegal activity.
Rosen told officers that the group was investigating 36-year-old William Carter of Franklin. According to the citation, the Predator Poachers group was communicating with a “decoy” posing as a 13-year-old female.
Officers say Rosen provided printouts of explicit and sexual text messages between Carter and the Predator Poachers decoy.
According to the citation, Carter sent text messages and appeared on video acknowledging “that he was aware the juvenile he was communicating with claimed to be 13 years old.”
Carter allegedly sent Predator Poachers text messages asking, “Would you want to be my secret friend?” and “Are you okay with me being 35?”
Police arrested Carter and transported him to the Logan County Jail.
Carter is charged with procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means.
“We are also grateful to Russellville PD for looking at and considering our evidence and applying the law accordingly. So, shout-out to them,” Rosen told WNKY News 40.
