Cave City man accused of being armed with machete while chasing juvenile

CAVE CITY, Ky. – A Cave City man is accused of being armed with a machete while chasing a juvenile.

According to a uniform citation, on Saturday around 4:12 p.m., Cave City police were on patrol at West Broadway Street when an officer was approached by a group of juveniles.

Police say the group stated their friend was being chased by a male with a machete.

Authorities say the officer observed 18-year-old Jaden Carney of Cave City with a large machete, chasing a male teen.

According to the citation, the officer drew a firearm and ordered Carney to put the machete down.

Authorities say Carney complied and was placed under arrest.

Carney was transported to the Barren County Detention Center, where he has since been released.

He faces charges of first-degree attempted assault, menacing and second-degree disorderly conduct.
