Authorities identify three teens killed in Laurel County Crash

LONDON, Ky. – The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and London City Police Department are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the lives of three teenagers and critically injured another.

According to LCSO, authorities responded to a report of a single-vehicle, fatal collision on Somerset Road (KY 1956) in western London Saturday evening.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a passenger car was traveling east on KY 1956 when it entered a sharp right-hand curve, lost control off the left shoulder, and overturned.

20-year-old Joseph Cope, of Lexington, was airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of critical injuries. Cope is currently in critical condition.

18-year-old Elijah Hammons, of London, was transported to Saint Joseph Hospital in London for treatment of critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

18-year-old Duke Weddle, of Corbin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to LEX 18, the Laurel County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 17-year-old Landon Mullins, of Mt. Vernon, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Laurel County Coroner’s Office, Laurel County EMS and London City Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
