2 arrested after woman with ties to Barren Co. found hanging from tree in Mississippi

JACKSON, Miss. – Two men are behind bars in connection with an investigation into the death of a woman found hanging from a tree in Mississippi.

According to CBS News, on Aug. 3, 29-year-old Tasia Fortune was found dead.

According to Chief RaShall Brackney with the Jackson Police Department, Fortune was “found in a hanging position from a tree behind a vacant home” near Jackson.

Since that day, Brackney states the department “dedicated hundreds of hours” to the case.

So far, authorities say 51-year-old Jarques Ratliff and 25-year-old Earnest Lloyd Jr. have been arrested in connection with Fortune’s death.

A representative from Barren County Schools confirms that Fortune was a student at the school from August 2012 until August 2013.
