Dolly Parton dies at age 80

(WNKY) – Dolly Parton has died at age 80, according to representatives of her family.

On social media Tuesday, Aug. 25, Bryan Seaver, a representative of the Parton and Owens family, confirmed her death Tuesday afternoon.

“It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly,” Seaver stated.

Parton was a renowned singer, songwriter and actress and supported education for children through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. In 2024, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Parton’s library initiative was available in every part of Kentucky, offering  a free book to children each month from birth to age 5.
