Authorities seize 44 pounds of methamphetamine in Logan & Todd County drug investigation

SHARON GROVE, Ky. (WNKY) – Two people were arrested after authorities seized 44 pounds of crystal methamphetamine during a controlled delivery that traveled through Logan County to Sharon Grove in Todd County, according to the South-Central Kentucky Drug Task Force.

The drug task force, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations-Bowling Green field office, the task force’s aviation unit and a Kentucky State Police interdiction team, conducted the operation on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Authorities said the parcel was shipped through a commercial carrier and traveled through Logan County before being delivered to a destination in Sharon Grove.

Two people from Hopkinsville took possession of the package and were later arrested during a traffic stop, authorities said.

Steven W. Caldwell, 49, and Amanda G. Tanner, 45, were arrested and lodged in the Todd County Jail.

Authorities estimated the methamphetamine’s street value at more than $1 million.

South-Central Kentucky Drug Task Force Director Jacky Hunt called the seizure a major one and said it “struck a blow” to drug dealers in the area.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities said additional arrests are expected.
