Man arrested after allegedly crashing into 2 Nashville patrol vehicles

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – One man is facing charges after authorities say he crashed into two empty police patrol vehicles in Nashville, Tennessee.

According to a release by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, officers responded at 10 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a person in the roadway. Police say a male subject was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Neelys Bend Road when he suddenly swerved toward two unoccupied patrol SUVs, almost hitting an officer before hitting both vehicles.

The department says the officers were not injured.

Authorities say the driver, 53-year-old James Rose, drove away from the scene.

Police say Rose’s truck was located wrecked and abandoned on Neelys Bend Road and Evergreen Trail. Officers say they located him running into a tree line, where he was apprehended by a K-9 officer and K-9 Talon.

Authorities say Rose was “visibly intoxicated” and admitted he had consumed alcohol.

As a result, Rose was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, third offense, two counts of aggravated assault against a police officer, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a revoked license.

He remains lodged on $48,000 bond.
