Employee charged after allegedly making threats toward Bluegrass Farms daycare

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has released arrest information following a reported threat toward Bluegrass Farms daycare.

According to a social media post by the sheriff’s office, on Thursday, Aug. 13, the agency received a complaint of threats being made toward a local daycare. Deputies say they were advised the suspect or suspects were believed to be an ex-employee or an individual’s spouse.

Authorities say they arrived on scene and secured the daycare. Through an investigation, deputies say the believed suspects were located in close proximity to the daycare.

Deputies say the suspects cooperated with detectives and agreed to be interviewed.

According to authorities, after multiple hours of interviews, emergency social media requests from various providers and email data provider requests, the two individuals were released.

On Friday, Aug. 14, authorities say they received another complaint of a threat toward Bluegrass Farms daycare.

Authorities say they arrived back on scene and again secured the daycare and its property. Through further investigation, deputies say it was determined the threats that were being made came from a cellphone and IP address that was at the location of one of the two daycares.

According to the sheriff’s office, at that time, detectives began interviewing employees within the business. Authorities say during this time, Kayla Canler, an employee of the daycare, confessed to making the threats toward the place of business.

Canler was arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail, where she is currently being lodged.

Sheriff Brett Hightower tells WNKY News 40 that Canler is charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and falsely reporting an incident that generates an emergency response.

The sheriff’s office stated the following:

“We appreciated the patience of our news sources that allowed time for the complete investigation in this matter. Unfortunately, many social media platforms shared pictures of the “suspected” couple. In addition, there were many, many very negative comments and people drawing conclusions and demanding we arrest these individuals or the “people’s justice” would be served. As an investigative agency, it is imperative that we ensure a thorough process. Ugly comments do not change or improve our team’s mission.”
