Paranormal investigation team coming to Glasgow’s theater Saturday

GLASGOW, Ky.- Spooky season is right around the corner, but that isn’t stopping one Kentucky based ghost hunting team.

“I started getting into ghosts when I was probably 13 or 14, and I had watched the episode of the television show ‘Ghost Hunters,'” said Katie Followell, the founder of 859 Paranormal, a Kentucky-based ghost hunting team.

“I have been going for over 10 years, over 16 years now,” Followell said.

She’s not just in it for the spook of things, she is inspired by those that came before us.

“It’s been interesting. I’ve learned I really enjoy the history of things more than I do the idea. Of course I want experiences to happen but even if nothing happens I’m always really appreciative of the bushings and the stories of the people that worked there or lived there and the communities that are around it,” Followell said.

Saturday night, she is making the trip to Glasgow to investigate the Plaza Theatre. The theatre broke ground in 1930. 

Followell and the crew recently selected a winner who will be in attendance with them. 

“It’s such an asset to the community. It’s a retro feeling and when I walked in I was just taken aback by the beauty of it. So, when I was looking for new places to investigate this year, I reached out this year and they said “well Steve’s coming back in September. Would you want to do a collaboration thing where you do a ghost hunt with people and also help promote his show and I was like absolutely,” she said, smiling.

I bet you’re wondering why the Plaza Theatre? Well, according to the staff, a phantom performer visits the spot. 

“When I got to talking to the Plaza Theatre, they were telling me they had have a theory that there have been a man that had committed suicide outside of the theater,” she said.

Katie explained the many lives that impacted plaza street was the biggest reason she chose the plaza theater.

“I’m so excited. The architecture of the theater is fascinating, they gusty and how they refurbished it and saved that building. So cool and I’m just really excited to get to explore it,” she said.

Saturday night the crew will begin their investigation.
