Man arrested after child critically injured in Pulaski County

SOMERSET, Ky. – One man is behind bars after authorities say he critically injured a child in Pulaski County.
According to the Kentucky State Police, 22-year-old Jack D. Kelsay of Somerset, Kentucky was arrested for assaulting a 2-year-old.
Authorities say KSP Post 11 received a call from Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital regarding serious injuries to an unresponsive 2-year-old.
Due to the extent of those injuries, authorities say the child was flown to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
According to troopers, a preliminary investigation determined Kelsay was the sole caretaker of the child at the time. As a result of the investigation, Kelsay is charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal abuse – child under 12.
This investigation remains ongoing.
