Man arrested after allegedly stealing over $150K from woman in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – One person is behind bars after a local woman was allegedly scammed out of more than $150,000.

According to a release by the Glasgow Police Department, this week, a female in the community reported being a victim of an organized financial scam.

Authorities say during this time, she stated she had over $150,000 stolen from her over the course of two weeks.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, the Glasgow Police Department says its Criminal Investigation Division, its Patrol Division, the Barren River Drug Task Force and the Kentucky State Police conducted a joint enforcement response where they apprehended and arrested 24-year-old Akashdeep Singh of Manteca, California.

Police say Singh was attempting to meet the victim in the Family Dollar parking lot.

According to authorities, he admitted to driving across the country for the purpose of this scam.

Singh was arrested and charged with engaging in organized crime and theft by deception over $10,000, with more charges pending.

He remains at the Barren County Detention Center on a $150,000 cash bond.

The investigation remains ongoing, and more arrests are pending.
