Former Kentucky teacher sentenced after reportedly trying to meet minor for sex

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (K105) – A former eastern Kentucky high school teacher is now facing nearly 20 years in federal prison.
That’s according to a report by K105, which states the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky says 44-year-old Jacob Back of Salyersville was sentenced to 17 years in federal prison on Monday.
According to Back’s plea agreement, from March 6, 2023 to March 9, 2023, Back “enticed a minor to engage in sexual activity.” Specifically, K105 reports Back, then a teacher a Magoffin County High School, engaged in a text message conversation with a minor and sent “a series of sexually explicit messages, including a series of messages that included plans to engage in sexual intercourse,” according to prosecutors.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI.
There is no parole in the federal system.
