2026 Football Frenzy Preview: Logan County Cougars
LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – The next 2026 Football Frenzy Preview, presented by Bowling Green Fireplace and Grill, is Logan County.
The Cougars put up a 10-win season in 2025 and capped it off with a region runner-up title.
The team returns a lot of offensive production from last year as well as a valuable characteristic.
“ Grit,” head coach Todd Adler said. “As young as they were and, backs against the wall, they fought. Even down to the regional championship game they left it all out on the field and as a coach, that’s all I can ask for. I think we got a lot of that coming back.”
The Cougars definitely have a lot of guys coming back, specifically six of their top 10 scorers.
That group helped Logan County finish as the No. 9 scoring team in 4A last season, but they believe it’s more than just grit they are bringing to the field this year.
“Communication and leadership (has grown) a little bit,” wide receiver Tysean Thomeczek said. “We think this group we have now has got a little bit more leadership.”
Logan County’s leading wide receiver and leading running back both return to the Cougars this year, along with their young quarterback. Having that returning core of offense is something this team thinks is going to give it a huge advantage when it comes to connections on the field.
“I think already having the chemistry from last year, we can just keep it rolling this year and really not slow down and have to learn everybody,” quarterback Luke Rogers said. “We can just keep on going.”
Rogers recorded over 2,000 passing yards for 24 touchdowns in his sophomore season, and he spoke on what he and this Cougar squad need to do in order to make a deeper run in the playoffs this fall.
“I think our playmakers making plays and me being confident and being able to get the ball to them, and not being scared. Just getting out there and making plays,” Rogers said.
But before they make plays on Friday nights, Coach Adler’s giving the Cougars a play to start practicing right now.
“Our motto this year is fourth-and-one,” Adler said. “You think about it – the atmosphere, the focus and the attention to detail that everybody takes in a game on fourth-and-one. I’m challenging them each and every day, ‘Hey, challenge each day like it’s fourth-and-one. When we get up out of bed, what if we attack the day like it’s fourth-and-one?'”
With a strong motto and a strong core of returning Cougars, Logan County will open the season with a home matchup against Daviess County on August 21, 2026, in the Lewisburg Bank Bowl.
