Kentucky State Police warns community of ongoing Bitcoin kiosk scam

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police Post Three is warning the community about an ongoing scam.

According to authorities, scammers are contacting victims by phone and convincing them that they have fines that need to be resolved.

Trooper say victims are being instructed to withdraw cash and take it to a Bitcoin kiosk located at 840 Morgantown Road, where they are advised to deposit the money into the machine and transfer the funds to the scammer using cryptocurrency.

Once the funds are sent, it is difficult, if not impossible, to recover the funds, authorities say.

If you get this call, authorities say to hang up the phone immediately, and do not send the funds.
