Tennessee man arrested in Warren County after fleeing police in Tennessee, Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Tennessee man was arrested after leading Kentucky and Tennessee authorities on a high-speed pursuit.
According to a uniform citation, Kentucky State Police was notified of a pursuit in Tennessee on I-65 northbound by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Monday evening. The pursuit began after a vehicle fled a traffic stop in Nashville.
A THP helicopter continued pursuit as the vehicle approached the Kentucky/Tennessee border. Kentucky State Police began pursuit at speeds up to 167 mph, according to the citation.
A KSP trooper says the fleeing vehicle almost struck his cruiser head-on. The trooper performed a PIT maneuver, and the vehicle crashed into a ditch on Scottsville Road in Bowling Green just after midnight.
According to the citation, authorities approached the vehicle and located two individuals. The citation states that troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the occupants.
The driver was identified as 22-year-old Joshua Frazier, of Nashville, Tennessee. Authorities say Frazier admitted to “smoking marijuana while driving and drinking two shots of alcohol.”
The second occupant is not identified in the citation.
Frazier was arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail after receiving medical clearance.
Frazier is charged with speeding 26 mph or greater of the speed limited (limited access), first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle uner the influence of alcohol .08 (189A.010(1A) – 1ST (AGG CIR), reckless driving, failure of owner to maintain required insurance first-offense, failure to or improper signal, improper registration plate and failure to illuminate head lamps.
The investigation is ongoing.
