Hopkinsville man charged in alleged assault of father

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – A Hopkinsville man is charged with a felony domestic violence charge after police say he struck his father in the back of the head.
According to an arrest citation, officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department arrived at the Jennie Stuart Medical Center shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday to investigate an assault report.
Hospital staff told police the victim had “suffered significant head injures,” the citation states.
Police say the victim stated that his son, 20-year-old Lamarcus Hickman Jr. of Hopkinsville, struck him in the back of the head with an unknown blunt object.
Police say they later made contact with Hickman, who advised him of his Miranda rights, but he declined to speak with officers. Hickman was later arrested and taken to JSMC for a medical clearance due to an injury on his hand. He was later cleared and is now lodged at Christian County Jail.
Hickman is charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence). The investigation remains ongoing.
