New microchip scanning station available at The Barkmore Pet Daycare and Boarding
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Fourth of July is right around the corner. There will be lots of fun and fireworks and potentially lots of runaway pets because of the noise.
Experts say 40 to 60% of dogs run away during Independence Day, and only 14% make it back home.
The Barkmore Pet Daycare and Boarding, a local pet daycare, hopes to change that narrative this year with its new 24-hour microchip scanning station.
Creating a space for families to find their lost pets can make a difference.
Savannah Dillard, the owner and manager The Barkmore Pet Daycare and Boarding, says, “You can reunite that dog that night. So you don’t have to wait or find a place for it for next couple hours until the place opens. And then you’re kind of delayed on some things. So it kind of help speed up that process. And get that owner connected to that pet a lot faster.”
If you find an animal with a microchip, you can head over to The Barkmore anytime and scan the microchip and become connected with the owner.
