COLUMBIA, Ky. – A Wayne County woman is facing an assault charge after allegedly giving a child a tattoo.

According to a uniform citation, Kentucky State Police troopers responded to a child abuse complaint at 230 Bridgepoint Circle in Columbia on May 4.

Troopers located 27-year-old Brook McDaniel and her 22-month-old child.

An allegation was made that McDaniel had given her child a tattoo on the arm while tattooing herself. Troopers say McDaniel admitted to the allegation, according to the citation.

McDaniel told troopers that she was giving herself a tattoo on the leg when her child stuck his arm in the way of her tattoo gun. The child had a black dot on its arm and redness.

Witnesses told KSP that McDaniel said she had given her child a “party dot.”

During the investigation, troopers say they contacted the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services because the child was living in “deplorable conditions.”

McDaniel was arrested and transported to the Adair County Detention Center. She is charged with fourth-degree assault – child abuse.

The investigation is ongoing.
