EDMONTON, KY.- On Tuesday evening, longtime Metcalfe County Fire Department Chief, Jerry Clemmons, was recognized for 60 years of service to the Edmonton community.

Community members gathered to honor Clemmons for his decades of service, sacrifice and dedication to the city.

Mayor Doug Smith presented Clemmons with a commemorative plaque, while family, friends and fellow community members shared gifts, memories and words of appreciation during the celebration.

Many attendees reflected on the impact Clemmons has had over the past six decades, but Clemmons says one part of the job has always stood out most to him.

“Saving young kids, saving their lives,” Clemmons said. “Whether it was getting them out of a wreck or helping them in an emergency, that’s what means the most.”

Clemmons says he has no plans to retire and intends to continue serving with the Metcalfe County Fire Department.
