Hilltoppers drop series to Blue Hens

NEWARK, Del. — WKU Softball fell to Delaware 4-2 on Friday at the Delaware Softball Diamond. The Hilltoppers (36-12 overall, 18-8 CUSA) out-hit the Blue Hens (30-21 overall, 17-9 CUSA) for the second straight game but were unable to score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- WKU scored quickly in the top of the first inning as Lauren Satterly hit a double to put the first Hilltopper on the base paths.
- Morgan Sharpe brought Satterly home the next at-bat with a single to center field and gave WKU the lead, 1-0.
- Sharpe then advanced to second on a passed ball and Annie White followed with a single to center field to push Sharpe to third.
- With runners at first and third, White stole second to put two runners in scoring position.
- Kendle White scored the second run of the day for WKU with a double to center field.
- Delaware was held scoreless in the first inning before scoring three runs in the second and their final run in the fifth.
NOTABLES
- All but one of the starting nine recorded at least one hit. Morgan Sharpe and Kendle White led with two.
- Both Sharpe and White were responsible for the two RBI of the day.
- Four stolen bases ties for third-most on the season.
- Rylan Smith earned the start and finished with four strikeouts in five innings of work. Maddy Wood threw the final inning of the game and struck out two.
