Johnson introduced as next head coach of Greenwood girls basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Friday afternoon, Greenwood girls basketball introduced its next head coach, and he’s pretty familiar with the area.
Brad Johnson will take over in the Swamp for the Lady Gators after taking a few years off from coaching.
Most recently, he was the head coach for Edmonson County boys basketball, where the Wildcats won the 12th District in 2023.
He also has spent time teaching in Barren County, Ohio County and Grayson County, with coaching experience both in boys and girls hoops.
Johnson’s resume includes being a three-time region champion and three-time region coach of the year, an NABC Court of Honor inductee, and his overall career record features upwards of 300 wins.
Coach has watched his new group on film already and based off of what he sees, he believes the sky is the limit for the Lady Gators.
“ To be honest, the talent kind of reminds me of some of my teams, some size and some quickness,” Johnson said. “We want to try to play up tempo as much as we can and we want to be the team that other teams don’t want to play.
I still got a few more gray hairs than the last time I coached, but I still got a good burning desire for it…I’m super excited to get going.”
